Default Team Arena Tournaments

Alright i have an idea to improve team arena a bit, i play team arenas a lot and mostly it seems a waste of a good pvp zone as it has no definitve purpose, here's the idea i have i know it probably sucks but here goes.

I was thinking that team arenas could turn into a little ranked area for official
4 v 4 tournamments, I feel that as well as having an 8 v 8 competition such as guild battles and such, there could be a 4 v 4 version as well.

I have noticed that there are alot of experienced players who want to fight competitively but due to whatever reasons can never consistently GvG, I was thinking that serious competition on the 4 v 4 level could help provide more options for these types of players.

Though i was thinking if this was to happen several things would need to be implemented.

First teams of four would need to register as faction teams, just as you would register guilds. This would mean that you would be allowed to join a guild and a faction team which could be independant from your guild or a branch off from your own guild. This faction team could have a say a maximum of 6-7 people in it though you can only do team arena battles. I chose maybe a maximum of 6 to 8 as you may want your core 4 and an extra 2 or 3 spare ppl.

Each region could have their own league so there is a european league, an american league and an asian league ( i was thinking that maybe korean, japanese, taiwan, etc could fight in the same regional league)

registered teams could then fight in ranked battles in team arenas and gain faction as well as increasing there teams rank on there own regional ladders. At the end of every month or two, the top 3 or 4 best teams battle it out in an international ranked tourney. The winners would earn say in game prizes like for instance 100k or a weeks free access to UW or Fow. Though the prizes could change this is just one idea.

Once Faction teams have registered they can then obtain there own little grottos, ships or caves which they can they can reside on for when they want to specfically activate and fight in Team battles. Just like you can only activate Guild battles from the guild hall. Battles from here will be team arena based but seperated from the standard battles going on in the team arenas area.

This would done purposely so that random players who just want to relax and play some Ta with PUGs can do so without getting railed by orgainsed ranked teams.

Faction teams can also get there own members list so just like you have guild lists you can bring up your team list and such

I have played alot of Ta and some of the fights end quickly. This is good as you can get in more fights but i feel some of the battles should be more drawn out. The priest map would need to be modified as i have noticed some teams just rail road the priest then finish up on the teams after. Causing matches to finish up very quickly.

This could be countered by placing two sentinels on the door to the priest to protect him who would both be lvl 30 npcs and having a blockade like a door to stop opposing teams getting through without breaking it down. If this happened this would allow players who do fall onto the backfoot enough time to respawn and to try and make a comeback. Making fights more tactically based and causing the fights to be drawn out a little more.

Annhilation maps could stay the same or they could adopt this same style of having a "faction lord" just like in guild battles the guild only loses when the guild lord dies this could be adopted for the annhilation maps making these fights more tactically based as well as drawn out a bit more.

The deathcount matches can stay the same

While the capture the flag map can stay the same but maybe the bonus of holding the flag shoud be changed to someting that both teams would actually want to fight for like a morale boost after every minute or a minute and a half or some type of hp and energy regen bonus after 30 seconds of holding the stand.

I have really come up with this platform for 4 v 4 as we have a serious level of competition for 8 v 8 battles (Guild battles) so why can't we have one for 4 v 4 battles (Team battles).

I have other suggestions for this but this is it for now what are your thoughts on the idea.

P.S if this thread has already been dones to death i apologise

A tournament doesn't sound like a horrible idea for 4v4, but I think the current maps with with the Ressurection, Anhilation and Capture the Flag battle type should remain the same. Perhaps if this is ever implimented just add some new maps.

Although, TA is already like this somewhat, you can go there with 1/2 of your GvG build essentialy, and get to 30+ wins with ease. Increasing the competitive level of play really can't hurt it, as long as they don't impliment somthing like the rank system for HA...

Default Team Arenas Championship

Well we have GvG world championships, HA is an ongoing world tournament. Team Arenas might benefit with a similar type of championship where each group of four can assign themself as a team and win some sort of championship. This way 4 player PvP might take off into a more competitive realm than it is now.

I think it would be a good idea to implement some kind of ranking system for TA. There are a number of guilds out there (mine included) that don't quite have the members to GvG on a regular basis. Only thing, a well organized team in TA can win 20-30 easy....not really fun. Lately, we've been been grabbing some friends for HA because it's much more of a challenge and allows you to work on a bigger scale. If TA had more of a reward outside of Faction points, the competition will increase and make TA more satisfying.

i am quite suprised that Arenanet haven't thought of doing this, i mean it could be a good idea and help to improve the overall guild wars playerbase skill level with the increased competition.

Also some of the prizes could encourage PVE players to venture into Pvp so they could get the free UW and Fow access for a week instead of waiting around for favour or the 100k prize money in the tourney could be nice for anyone.

But no i don't feel that personal player rank would work here otherwise it could turn into another Ha and no one wants that.

I understand that it is easy to rack up 30+ wins but thats only beacause the competition is very low in TA and there are alot of random players who play in PUG teams, thats why i suggested that ranked fights be seperated from normal team arena battles, so that the PUG teams can enjoy play without getting rail roaded by orgainsed teams and also so that orgainsed teams can go up against other competiting orgainsed teams so there is more of a challenge for them.

whether something like this will happen or not in future Guild wars games remains to be seen as arenanet seem more interested in battles escalating in size (alliance battles).

anyone ever heard the saying Quality over Quantity?

i agree with the main idea TA Tournaments, and the factions thing. What i would also like to see is TA Ladder Gameplay like in HA. Games become harder and harder as you progress and fight better teams in maps that need more tactics. Anyone has any idea?

I think most TA players would like to see a ladder, I mean Hero battles get one!, so if holding TA Tournaments is one way of promoting TA so Anet give us a ladder then I am all for it.

I'm up for it, even though I probably won't participate in it.

I've been saying something along these lines (the need for TA to have a tournament, not any changes to maps though) since they announced Hero Battles were getting a lot more attention (which was pretty soon after release).

TA has a great gameplay aspect which is currently only held back by the lack of defined competition in it. A tournament ladder would encourage higher levels of competition and bring more people to the arena, creating a third area for team-based PvP (in addition to GvG and HA).

It's a shame TA has been left this long without any leg-ups, the foundations for a really great PvP area are there but it just needs a bit of attention to make it more appealing and more enjoyable for everyone.

P.S. Make RA give different title points.

it would be great if there is TA tournament. And plz update the sistem gladiator point for TA. 10 cons for 1 point, 20 cons for 2 point, 30 cons for 3 points and so on (make it like Heroes Ascent). For 1 glad point in TA need 30 mins is the fastest. And give some emote for gladiator it required more time than HA .
